The Ver.2.0 update of HoYoverse’s RPG “Collapse: Star Rail” for PS5/PC/iOS/Android was implemented on February 6th. Now that the incident with the Senshu “Rabu” has come to an end, the next destination for the Seikyu Train is the dream star “Pinocony” where people indulge in hedonism. The planet was once used as a prison for the Company, and is now ruled by a faction called the “Family.”

A new destination “Pinocony” talked about in Ver.2.0

After receiving an invitation to the Harmony Ceremony from the “Family”, the main characters, the “Pioneers”, will attend the banquet. Various factions, including Star Peace Company, are invited to the ceremony, and it looks like it will be a place where influential people gather together.Today’s Pinocony is a planet known as the “Planet of Banquets,” and was once a prison turned into a resort after the family took over. The protagonist stays at the gorgeous “Hotel Reverie” and is invited to a mysterious world called “Dreamland” where anything is possible.”Dreamscape”, a space different from reality, is created by a designer called Dream Maker, and rules that cannot exist in reality may work. In Pinocony, you will be able to hack into these strange phenomena in the form of optical illusion puzzles and other mini-games, and peek into the dangerous world behind the scenes. In the dream world, the town’s mascot character “Clock Boy” appears. Clock Boy, whose visuals are reminiscent of the early days of animation, is an important figure who bestows the power to solve certain problems occurring in the city. When walking around town, you may come across people who are extremely emotionally unstable and are causing trouble with those around them, but the protagonist has gained the power to interfere with their emotions. By manipulating and repairing the emotions expressed in the shapes of clocks and gears, new events occur and the veil that hides Pinocony’s secrets is gradually peeled away.

The design theme of Pinocony is strongly reminiscent of “retro-future” and is full of designs reminiscent of Paris and New York about 100 years ago.

The decoration is a mixture of graceful plant-like curves and geometric straight lines, and a mysterious vehicle that doesn’t exist in modern times runs around the city. It seems that we are regenerating from a “projection of the future” that was imagined in the old days before digital devices, which is different from what we imagine today. These “retro-futuristic” designs are familiar to gamers, and some have become familiar with them from fictional settings such as “a ruined underwater city,” “America devastated by nuclear war,” and, most recently, “the Soviet Union in the 1950s, which achieved great development.” I’m sure there are many.

This “retro-futuristic” image is depicted in a design that mixes two eras: France’s “Belle Époque,” when people were enjoying pleasure, and America’s “Jazz Age .” Although they preceded and preceded World War I, both were unique times in which culture and art flourished.

From the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century, many artists including Van Gogh gathered in Paris during the Belle Époque , and the world of art, which had been dominated by state power and aristocrats until modern times, suddenly changed due to democratization and the emergence of the wealthy bourgeoisie. The focus of art shifted to a liberated and mass consumption society.

Lithographs made detailed color printing possible, and painters such as Lautrec and Mucha appeared who were active in commercial advertisements and magazine illustrations. Art spread from the frames to the streets, and whether you were rich or poor, you could always be exposed to art in Paris. The style centered on graceful curves characteristic of the Belle Époque era is called “Art Nouveau,” or new art.
